In short: a .cm domain name costs 7 000 FCFA per year, the official price set by ANTIC. You register it with an accredited registrar such as ZoomLab (a service by Honowa Technologies), using an ID or your company's trade register certificate (RCCM). It is usually live within 24 to 72 working hours.
What is a .cm domain name?
A domain name is your website's address on the Internet, for example buea-bakery.cm. It also powers professional email addresses such as hello@buea-bakery.cm.
.cm is Cameroon's country-code top-level domain (ccTLD). It is managed by ANTIC, the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies, which sets the registration rules and accredits the registrars allowed to sell .cm names.

The .cm price is regulated: be wary of offers that advertise a very low first-year price followed by a much more expensive renewal.
Who can register a .cm?
Under ANTIC's naming charter, any individual or organisation can register a .cm, whether Cameroonian or foreign, living in Cameroon or abroad. The registrant agrees that the name and its content fall under Cameroonian law.
Which documents do you need?
- Individuals: a copy of your national ID card or passport.
- Companies: trade register certificate (RCCM) or articles of association, plus the legal representative's ID.
- Associations, NGOs, churches: declaration receipt and the ID of the person in charge.

How to choose a good name
- Short: under 15 characters if possible.
- Easy to spell out on the phone or radio.
- No accents: only letters, numbers and hyphens are allowed, between 2 and 63 characters, with no hyphen at the start or end.
- Consistent with your brand: your company or product name, or your trade plus your town (
garage-limbe.cm).
Tip: also register obvious variations (with and without a hyphen, for example) so that a competitor cannot use them.
Mistakes to avoid
Should I let my web agency register the domain in its own name?
No. The domain should always be registered in your company's name or your own. Otherwise, you risk losing your web address and email if you fall out with the provider.
What happens if I forget to renew my .cm?
The domain is first suspended: your website and email stop working. It then enters a recovery period during which you can still renew it, with an extra fee towards the end. After that, anyone can register it. At ZoomLab, we send reminders by email and WhatsApp before every due date.
Can I change registrar?
Yes. You can always transfer to another accredited registrar, and the registrant of the domain stays the same.
